Below we outline the dates and details of Columbia’s sale, along with our favorite discounted items, many of which we’ve tested and used extensively on our own adventures.

From May 20 through 26, you can shop in store or online at Columbia.com and save between 25 and 40%. Everything in their collection is discounted, from hiking apparel and footwear to accessories like hats, gloves, socks, and more. While there are no restrictions or limitations on what you can purchase, we recommend shopping earlier to get the best selection of available colorways and sizes. Below we outline some of our favorite products from Columbia, all of which stand out as strong performers for the price—even at full MSRP.
Columbia's longstanding Watertight II is a leading budget rain jacket that’s even more appealing during their Memorial Day Sale. Good seam sealing and a reliable build make it a solid option for daily use or as a just-in-case shell, and the jacket packs into its own hand pocket when conditions are favorable. The Watertight and women’s Arcadia also include a number of features you don’t often find at this price point, including zippered hand pockets, a supple chin guard, Velcro wrist cinches, and an adjustable hood. To top it off, the design is available in a nice selection of colorways and sizes, including dedicated plus sizes for both men and women.

For casual hiking and even summer backpacking, the Columbia Silver Ridge is a great value in a hiking pant. These pants perform well with breathable and quick-drying fabrics (this also makes them popular among travelers), and the storage layout is very practical with easily accessible hand pockets, massive cargo pockets, and a zippered security pocket on the left thigh. Final highlights include UPF 50 sun protection, built-in stretch for good mobility, and a removable belt for dialing in fit. The popular lineup also includes several other styles, including convertible pants and cargo shorts.

Columbia’s Newton Ridge Plus is evidence that you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to get a good pair of hiking boots. In testing the women’s model (which is largely similar to the men’s version but with slight variations in the upper construction), we found ourselves grabbing them over any other option in our closet for casual day hikes. The generous toe box and lightweight foam midsole are supremely comfortable, even right out of the box, and Columbia’s Omni-Tech waterproofing has proven to be reliable when the going gets wet. Additionally, the semi-stiff collar and two locking eyelets at the top make it easy to achieve a snug, supportive fit. All in all, this is a boot that handily outperforms its price tag.

Soft, inexpensive, and offered in a wide selection of sizes and colors, the Steens Mountain (and women's Benton Springs) is a very popular fleece that we frequently see outdoors and around town. While fairly basic in terms of features, the two zippered hand pockets and hem drawcord are well executed, and the jacket provides solid warmth and styling by way of cozy fleece and a healthy selection of good-looking colorways. Both the men’s and women’s styles are offered in a wide range of sizes: from S to 6X for men and XS to 3XL for women, plus tall and petite variations. A final feather in the jacket’s cap is the affordable price, which is a fraction of what you’ll pay for a premium design from the likes of Patagonia or Arc’teryx.

Button-up hiking shirts add a nice dose of flair compared to basic tees, and the Silver Ridge Utility is certainly one worth considering. Columbia clearly thought through the details with the design, placing two easy-to-operate snaps near the neck (the rest of the front panel uses buttons) and employing large shoulder vents to keep air flowing. The venting doesn’t work perfectly while wearing a backpack, but the Silver Ridge is nevertheless a very breezy shirt that’s great for hot-weather hiking. It does a nice job fending off odor, too.

Outdoor-ready shorts are a dime a dozen in 2025, but there’s a lot to like about the Summertide Stretch Shorts beyond their palatable price tag. Purpose-built for days on or near the water, the shorts boast a supple polyester construction that’s very quick to dry, highly moisture-resistant, and nicely stretchy to boot. While far from the most feature-rich design, you do get a drawcord for tweaking fit at the waist, along with two hand pockets and a single rear pocket. The shorts are also available in two inseam lengths (6 or 8 in.) and sizes from S to 6X.

If winter is still on your mind or you’re simply trying to plan ahead, the women’s Heavenly Hooded Jacket is worth having on your radar. For warmth, you get a healthy amount of Columbia's in-house polyester fill, along with a shiny Omni-Heat reflective lining and a fleece-lined hood and collar that feel great against cold, exposed skin. Other noteworthy features for the price include functional thumbholes for added hand protection, a chin guard to prevent chafing when the collar is fully zipped, and a drop hem for extra coverage when sitting down or bending over. We also like the Long Hooded Jacket version, which extends the center back length by 7 inches (it’s one of our favorite women’s winter parkas).
