From October 31 to November 8, one of the great celebrations of mountain culture will take place in Banff, Alberta. The 2015 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival will feature top mountain films, books, and speakers from around the world, in addition to art and photography exhibitions, workshops, and a mountain marketplace.
The Festival was conceived in 1976—originally as a film festival with the book competition added in the 1990’s—and is held annually at the Banff Centre. After the Festival’s conclusion, a selection of the best films hit the road with a wide range of tour stops in the United States, Canada, and international destinations as remote as Antarctica. The full schedule for the 2014-2015 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour can be found here.
The small mountain town of Banff is part of the greater Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks UNESCO World Heritage Area that comprises the contiguous national parks of Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho, as well as the Mount Robson, Mount Assiniboine, and Hamber provincial parks.
